The Humble Toast Sportstar of the Week: David Schwalbe

The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize David Schwalbe as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The fourth grader at The Moriah School was a key contributor on the CMEK 4 team that shocked the top two seeds en route to the fall league championship. David led the team in scoring and assists in both playoff games. In the championship game, they were down by six points, seconds before halftime, when David drilled a half-court shot to cut the deficit in half. David rode that momentum through the second half, hitting clutch shot after clutch shot to lead CMEK 4 to victory. When asked about Schwalbe, Coach Chad Mekles told The Jewish Link, “David can create his own shot and score from anywhere on the court. That said, what makes him such a special player is his ability and willingness to make everyone around him better. His decision making is just remarkable; e often draws double teams and sets up others for good scoring opportunities. He leads by example, positivity and encouraging his teammates.”
