The Idea School welcomed Sybil Cohen, artist and illustrator to teach a 12-week course in visual language to its students and faculty. Cohen’s unique program teaches the basics of drawing combined with a system of communication using visual elements. In this class, the students have begun learning the art of visual storytelling—using drawing to convey an engaging story and express details in a visual and compelling way. Visual language can also be instrumental in simplifying difficult concepts, illustrating deeper meanings or assisting in collaborative thinking. At The Idea School, literacy in the arts is as important as any other subject.
