On Sunday, March 31 at 3:00 p.m., the Thurnauer Chamber Music Series with close its 26th season with a concert entitled “Celebrating Women Composers,” featuring music by Lili Boulanger, Clara Schumann, Rebecca Clarke and Ruth Crawford Seeger. Violinist and Artistic Director Sharon Roffman will perform with guest artists, pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute and cellist Wendy Sutter. A meet-the-artists reception will follow the concert.
“There are a lot of great composers out there who, historically, have not always gotten the recognition that they deserve,” says Sharon Roffman. “With our spring concert of all women composers, I want to shine a light and share some fantastic music written by women who reflect the diversity of the communities we live in.”
Since 1992, the artist-members of the Thurnauer Chamber Music Society (TCMS), ensemble-in-residence at the JCC Thurnauer School of Music, have presented stimulating and provocative performances representing a wide range of eras, styles and instrumentation.
The series is made possible by a generous contribution from Eva Holzer and the Konikow Chamber Music Fund. Tickets are $20 (public) and $16 for JCC members and are available at jccotp.org/Thurnauer or 201-408-1465. For more information, visit jccotp.org.
