During a 10-week simulation SMG this fall, four 7th graders at Yavneh Academy turned $100,000 into $131,495. They finished in second place out of 500 student teams in the New Jersey Northern Region. They placed 6th in the state out of 2602 teams.
During the 10-week session they both bought and short sold stocks deciding whether the stock would rise or fall. They took advantage of world events. One of their biggest winners was Hawaiian Airlines, which benefited from the sharp drop in the price of fuel that increased its profit margin.
