A special event commemorating the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Six Day War and reunification of Yerushalayim, as well as the 25th yahrzeit of former Prime Minister Menachem Begin, z”l, took place at the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates, in Queens, New York. Former UN Ambassador John Bolton and Israeli Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked spoke at the inaugural event, which focused on these three historic occasions.
The momentous event was sponsored by Young Israel Chovevei Zion and the National Council of Young Israel, chaired by Dr. Joe and Karen Frager of Jamaica Estates, NY and co-chaired by Dr. Paul & Drora Brody of Great Neck, NY. The media coordinator was Odeleya Jacobs of Kew Gardens Hills, NY.
A VIP reception for sponsors with Minister Shaked and Ambassador Bolton was held prior to the event, where supporters were personally greeted by the dignitaries.
Jacobs noted that this is a propitious time, right before Rosh Hashana, to reflect on the blessing of having a State of Israel, and to commemorate the three important events.
Dr. Frager stated that Ambassador John Bolton has been a good friend to Israel over the past 15 years. He noted that he led the fight against the buildup of arms in Iran and the fight against the Iran Nuclear Agreement, and that Amb. Bolton was instrumental in getting rid of the resolution in which Zionism was equated with racism, from the presidency of former President George H.W. Bush. He added that he speaks about United States Mid-East relations every day and is one of the top friends of Israel. «We are honored that Ambassador Bolton will be speaking at this event,” Frager said in advance of the program.
Dr. Brody explained that Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked is a rising star in Israeli politics. «She has fought hard for the development of Yehuda and Shomron, as well as for transparency of the NGOs. She has changed the judicial landscape in Israel with the appointment of over 100 Judges.»
Frager, Brody and Jacobs have worked together often as a group advocating for Israel, including organizing Knesset conferences, working with American and Israeli politicians, combating BDS, clarifying misinformation about Israel and bringing important speakers to the Israel Day Concert in Central Park, which they have collectively organized over several decades. The group—who brought Gov. Mike Huckabee to Israel several times, as well as media mogul Glenn Beck, and Washington State Congressman Dave Reichert, among others—organized a trip to Israel just last month, bringing FOX News Contributor Major Pete Hegseth, which gave him a new perspective about Israel and what Israelis face.
