Get ready to give yourself or your loved ones the ultimate gift this Chanukah—a fresh new look that will give you the confidence to step into 2025 feeling rejuvenated. While short, chic haircuts were the No. 1 hair trend this past year, as well as expensive-looking hair colors such as Clean Girl Brunette and Sunflower Blonde, 2025 hair is forecasting simplicity, with a focus on super-healthy glossy hair, with longer and thicker lengths.
More innovations in the wig world are being made to make textured hair more affordable. Textured hair with a polished, finished look will gain popularity in mid-length to long hair. Bangs that frame the eyes, brow bone and cheekbones will become a spotlight in 2025, so hold onto your older bulky skin top sheitels—with a bit of sprucing up, they will once again make a “bang.”
The current TikTok trend, of high versus low contrast, will also be playing a role in hair trends for 2025. Hair color will include extremes of very low contrast, hair similar in depth and tone to the skin, and also very high contrast, very dark hair on fair skin tones and bright platinums on deeper skin tones. Sun-kissed balayage, as well as bold contrast, will remain.
- The Midi Flick—Flicky and textured ends will lead the way for styling mid-length cuts and bobs. If you would like to revitalize the ends of a wig, consider cutting it mid-length, with a textured and layered shape that sits around your collarbone. It will look best when styled with soft, messy waves, or crimps.
- The Anti-Fringe—A look with face-framing layering, without any distinguishable layers shaping the face. The angles and soft layers start a bit longer than the chin, providing a minimalistic shape around the face. This allows for versatility in styling the hair straight, with texture, tucked behind the ears, or totally up and away from the face.
- Brow Bone Contouring—Bangs take on a mini hairstyle in their own right. Gaining popularity will be a variety of fusions of previously popular bang styles, including birkin bangs, bottleneck bangs, curtain bangs, micro bangs, as well as various other brow and cheekbone-skimming lengths. These looks can be customized to frame one’s eyes on both softly textured and choppy-length hair. A master stylist will be able to advise you on what would flatter your face best when it comes to customizing bangs and face framing layers. A talented stylist will take into consideration the size of your forehead, whether it’s best to show off your eyebrows or cheekbone or enhance another facial feature.
- XXL Curls—New innovations in products for all different types of hair textures mean that we’ll see more types of waves and curly hair types. Gone are the days of that perfect curl; now your brushed-out, messy curls and crimps will look purposely undone. Using a shine mist to refresh the hair in between wash and sets is all you need to have a polished look.
- Muted Auburn—Soft coppers and natural sun-kissed looking colors, such as strawberry blondes, chestnuts and auburns, will gain popularity this coming year. These colors are so popular because they universally flatter a variety of skin tones. The most common question with a warm reddish hue is: “Will red suit me?” If you feel good in yellow or rose gold jewelry that’s a good sign this trend will work for you. Adding soft, natural looking copper, caramel and auburn tones to your wig will give your skin that “glowed-up look.”
- Modern Goldilocks—Previously, many blonde sheitel wearers have wanted to avoid golden tones, however, this year we are embracing them. Sunflower and golden blondes in varied forms, known as “the modern Goldilocks” will be the most sought-after blonde tones. Warm tones will make the wig look shinier and healthier, making you feel brighter and sunnier all year round.
- Minimalist Shades—A movement towards monochromatic simplicity, a single shade colored from root to tip, whether in fairer or deeper, warmer or cooler shades. This trend follows TikTok’s bold statement trend. I’m giving sheitel wearers a huge caution with this trend: One solid color from root to end looks “wiggy” in sheitels, as some contrast is needed to make the wig look more natural. If you do opt for this look in a wig, a tinted gloss can help the hair shine, avoiding a flat look and making the hair appear more vibrant.
- Hyper-Naturals—For those wanting a soft dimension, balayage and freehand painted techniques are returning. Adding detailed pops of color to darker hair, multi-tones to blonde, with touches of soft copper, sun-kissed blended highlights, provide hair with natural looking results. Think natural looking, but enhanced. Hand-painted, naturally blended balayage highlights that focus on the top and around the face, where the sun naturally hits, are the key to providing that “warm glow.” Those desiring an ashy look and tone should avoid these techniques.
