Welcome to the Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School Class of 2028! The new RKYHS freshmen spent the first few days getting acclimated to high school. The grade welcomed students from 13 different schools around the tristate area, as well as the school’s elementary school the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy. They hail from communities including Bergen County, Middlesex County and Staten Island, and the local Essex, Union and Morris counties.
The first week for freshmen was spent getting to know one another, the school and administration and faculty. They arrived at school the day before the official start of RKYHS for freshmen-specific programming to ease them into life at RKYHS and to get to know one another. Throughout the first week, students met with senior peer leaders, participated in ice breakers, got to know the school’s systems, extra curricular activities and more. The ninth graders also participated in a rotation each day of the different ninth grade electives in order to be introduced to them prior to selecting which one to pursue. Elective options for RKYHS freshmen include Computer Science, Art, Introduction to Business, Big Ideas in Science, fitness training and Visual Arts. The first week concluded with a sweet ending as they enjoyed the ice cream truck visit to RKYHS.
